This neighbourhood in the midst of the old city center of Rijen (N.Brabant) has been designed with great care, using beautiful materials. The only part of this area that has received less attention is a triangular square in the heart of De Leertuinen. The art assignment was invented around this place. This square could become a meeting place, where people sit and children can play. Furthermore, the wish was expressed to make a connection with the Hoofdstraat, and thus to connect this new district with the older part of the city.

In this time I learn about the work of Sybolt Meindertsma. Together with him we design the space and I create the sculptures. The stones are part of his design, also the surface where the laying panther is placed is part of his design. The other panther is placed on the food path in de mainstreet. The sculptures of the panthers are first made in styrofoam and with wachs I model them, after that they are finished and casted in bronze to be put on location.

In 2008 our plans were executed.
